Winter sales turnover of 48 billion euros

(Finance) – New Year e winter sales at the gates. Off we go on January 3rd in Valle d’Aosta, on the 5th throughout the rest of the country. There will be 15.8 million families who will dedicate themselves to discounted shopping and each person will spend around 137 euros while the average expenditure per family is 306 euros for a turnover of 4.8 billion euros. These are, according to estimates from the Confcommercio Research Office, the numbers of the winter sales.

These sales represent an exceptional opportunity for consumers who will be able to find a vast assortment of quality products at very affordable prices in fashion stores. Fashion retail confirms itself as an essential component for the value and vitality of streets, squares and historic centers and contributes to the growth of GDP and employment in Italy”.

The guide to Confcommercio – Cambi sales: the possibility of changing the item after it has been purchased is generally left to the discretion of the shopkeeper, unless the product is damaged or non-compliant (Art. 129 et seq. Legislative Decree 6 September 2005, n. 206, Consumer Code). In this case, the retailer is obliged to repair or replace the item and, if this proves impossible, the reduction or refund of the price paid (art. 135 bis of Legislative Decree 206/2005 – Consumer Code ). However, the buyer is required to report the defect of the garment within two months from the date of discovery of the defect. For online purchases, changes or termination of the contract are always permitted within 14 days of receiving the product regardless of the presence of defects, with the exception of made-to-measure or personalized products (articles 52 et seq. of Legislative Decree 206/ 2005 – Consumer Code). Testing of garments: there is no obligation. It is left to the discretion of the shopkeeper. Payments: credit cards must be accepted by the shopkeeper and cashless payments should be favoured. Products for sale: the items offered on sale must be seasonal or fashionable and be susceptible to significant depreciation if not sold within a certain period of time. Price indication: obligation of the shopkeeper to indicate the normal selling price, the discount and, generally, the final price. Throughout the sales period, the initial price will be the lowest price applied to the generality of consumers in the 30 days before the start of the sales (Art. 17 bis Legislative Decree 206/2005 – Consumer Code introduced by Legislative Decree no. 26/2023 transposing the EU Omnibus Directive).
