While other parks indicate online “they do their best to be fireworks-free, but cannot enforce them”, things are different for RCN Het Grote Bos. The park is located in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, which is fireworks-free. “We are also located next to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug nature reserve, which means we also feel a responsibility to be fireworks-free,” says park manager Eelco Stienstra. That’s why they drive through the park on New Year’s Eve to patrol.
