Police patrols are sent to the scene and find a 75-year-old woman.
Pieces of glass and a mass of dough were found in the woman’s bag, and there were also pieces of glass on the ground around the woman.
– The witnesses have seen the woman throwing glass around and when they confront her, she picks it up again, says Patric Fors, spokesperson for the police.
The woman is arrested on suspicion of aggravated vandalism, which means causing public danger to animals or plants.
The police are now looking for more witnesses to the incident and want to warn that there may be more dough balls with glass in the park that could be dangerous for animals to ingest.
The woman will be heard tonight.
Previous incidents
Malmö has previously had problems with bread and meat with hidden pieces of glass in them being spread in places where dog owners move. Sydsvenskan decided in the spring of 2023 to make a special effort to catch the perpetrator.
The leads led the newspaper to a woman who denied the allegations. No glass balls have been reported in Malmö since that confrontation – until now.
Could it be the same woman that Sydsvenskan previously reported on?
– It is far too early to say. We are investigating the matter unconditionally. It is something we will look at and control, says Patric Fors.
