In Sarnia, curbside Christmas tree and brush collection will be on residents’ regular collection day between Jan. 8 and 12, the city’s website says.

Only real Christmas trees will be collected in the city and must be at the curb by 7 am on collection day and no earlier than 6 pm the night before.

Setting out brush or Christmas trees at other times, or placing them on the road or gutter, violates the city’s waste collection bylaw and could lead to a fine.

Artificial trees, or real Christmas trees that are bagged, plastic wrapped, still decorated or in a tree stand will not be collected, the city says.

If it snows in Sarnia during collection week, Christmas trees buried under snow also won’t be picked up.

“Property owners are responsible to ensure their Christmas trees set out for collection are not snow-buried,” the city says.
