Fireworks enthusiasts from Soest, Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Amersfoort are out of luck. A ban applies in those municipalities. Only F1 fireworks, such as sparklers and crackers, are allowed. Heavier fireworks lead to unsafe conditions, nuisance and environmental damage, according to the municipalities. The ban in Amersfoort is new. “The pleasure that some Amersfoorters experience from setting off fireworks does not outweigh the disadvantages,” Mayor Lucas Bolsius said earlier.
