They receive SEK 1500 more per month

80 percent of all pensioners in Sweden will get more money in their wallets next year, according to the Swedish Pensions Agency.

An increase in the total pension (general and occupational pension) gives an increase of between SEK 500 and 1,500 after tax for eight out of ten pensioners.

10 percent get a smaller increase, and 10 percent get a bigger increase.

– Some get a reduction and it is because their premium pension is reduced, says Linda Wieseanalyst at the Swedish Pensions Agency at a press conference.

This applies to all pensioners, who are 66 years of age and older, and live in Sweden:

Average pension in 2024 (general pension + estimated occupational pension):

SEK 22,100. (2023: SEK 21,000)

Increase in general pension before tax:

SEK 170-860. (2023: SEK 270-770).

Increase in total pension after tax, including any change in housing allowance:

SEK 490-1,530. (2023: SEK 500-1,090).

The guarantee pension will be increased in 2024

The guaranteed pension will be increased by 9.1 percent. This means that from 1 January 2024 it will be increased by around SEK 1,000 per month for those who are unmarried, and SEK 880 for those who are married.

The income pension will also be increased next year, but by 1 percent.

The premium pension in 2024

Persons born in 1938 or later are covered by the premium pension. The premium pension changes by -3.9 – 14.5 percent, which corresponds to -26 kroner to 218 kroner a month before tax.

Exactly how much it will be depends on how the funds performed during the year, and the majority have developed positively.
