It’s been seven years since Travis Fimmel said goodbye to his star role, Ragnar Lodbrok, in the fourth season of Vikings. In Germany we can watch the epic historical series on Netflix, among others, and in all these years no other series with Travis Fimmel has been added to the streaming service.
Fans of the Australian actor can now rejoice and pull out their calendars. At the January 11, 2024 starts his new series Boy Swallows Universe on the streamer.

This is what Boy Swallows Universe is about: The miniseries is set in Brisbane, Australia in 1983. It is about the complicated family life of 11-year-old boy Eli Bell (Felix Cameron). He has been through difficult times with his older brother, who doesn’t speak a word, and his drug-addicted mother.
Then stepfather Lyle (Travis Fimmel) comes into her life and helps her mother get clean. The family stays afloat through drug deals. When Lyle recklessly becomes involved with a drug cartel, he disappears. Eli makes it his mission to find out the truth.

The story takes on even more weight when you know the background. Actually the series is based on a semi-autobiographical bestseller * by Trent Dalton. It’s not an epic historical series like Vikings, but Travis Fimmel has once again chosen a real model.
Author Trent Dalton’s mother and stepfather also sold heroin when he was a child. They were both in prison at times for drug trafficking.
