It was a so-called handshake case that caused a man to barricade himself in his home last week and fire shots at the police, the prosecutor tells P4 Dalarna in Sveriges Radio.
The police were to transfer the man from his residence to a care facility, but the man refused to go along.
– This man did not want that and remained in the house, which prompted a major police effort to get him out safely, says prosecutor Eva-Lena Jansson to the radio channel.
The police operation lasted from lunchtime on Wednesday until 10:30 on Thursday morning. Only then could the man be taken into custody. During the operation, neighbors had to be evacuated and parts of national highway 66 closed. However, no one should have been physically harmed in connection with the incident.
The man has now been detained on suspicion of attempted murder, sabotage against blue light operations and causing danger to others, according to P4 Dalarna.
He admits that he fired shots from his window and that he shot down one of the police drones, but denies any crime.
