At 7 vs. Wild there is a discussion about one of the winning teams. They had violated the rules of the show and made personal contact with the organizing team. Some fans are calling for the two to be disqualified. Participant and Twitch streamer Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller gives his assessment: 7 vs. Wild isn’t a real survival show anyway, it’s about entertainment.
This post contains spoilers for 7 vs. Wild Season 3 Episode 7 and the show’s winners.
This is the situation:
That is the discussion: For some fans of 7 vs. Wild, this deliberate contact is a violation of the rules, which must lead to the disqualification of the eventual winners: If the participants don’t know whether something is edible, they shouldn’t eat it. But breaking the isolation is not possible. That ruins the authentic survival feeling.
Others, however, say: the health of the participants comes first here.
One of the participants in season 3 is the Twitch streamer Jens “Knossi” Knossalla. You can see more about him in our video.
Papaplatte sees blame in the chaotic preparation
This is what Papaplatte says: The Twitch streamer Papaplatte is also one of the winners of 7 vs. Wild. He commented on the situation in a stream (via YouTube).
He can understand the conflict, but sees responsibility not with the participants, but with the organizing team of 7 vs. Wild. The preparation of the participants was terrible. Papaplatte says he imagined a 5-hour Powerpoint presentation as a preparatory briefing, with clear advice on what you can and can’t eat, with tips on flora and fauna:
“Brother, that was all wrong. That didn’t exist. We were told by locals: You can eat these berries and you can wipe your ass with this plant. Real talk: That’s it.”
He can understand that Sascha Huber and Knossi asked whether the mussels were dangerous. Because the two of them have already been there and know what the preparation for season 2 was like.
“Because, bro, at the end of the day, none of us are really there to do 100% just this survival thing, it’s mostly about entertainment, especially for the non-survival YouTubers, but also for the survival YouTubers .”
This is what he thinks is the problem: According to Papaplatte, another problem the organization team has is keeping things like making contact “secret” and not showing them in the episodes.
As a streamer, you want to tell your community something like that.
