Kelsey gave birth to two children in two days: “Is one in a million”

Kelsey Hatcher of Alabama is one of the roughly 0.3 percent of women who have two wombs. That in itself is unusual, but to also get pregnant in both at the same time is described by her doctor as “one in a million”, writes BBC.

– I lost my breath. We couldn’t believe it was true, she says of when they discovered she was pregnant with another baby on an ultrasound.

The babies can be described as fraternal twins but unlike a typical twin pregnancy, they have not shared the same uterus. The first was born on Tuesday and the second came into the world ten hours later on Wednesday after a total of 20 hours of labour.

– You could describe it as if there were two babies who were in the same stomach at the same time, but they have had different homes, says doctor Richard Davis.
