Lots of new content awaits, 2 developers vow to make improvements

The year 2023 is coming to an end. Many developers are presenting their roadmaps for 2024, showing fans what they can look forward to in the coming year. Two large MMORPGs are getting an expansion, but the smaller games are also being provided with new content.

The highlights of the week:

  • World of Warcraft shows its roadmap for 2024. The next content patch is scheduled to come in winter 2024, i.e. between January and March. In addition, there is the announcement of some patches and the dating of the expansion “The War Within” between the end of summer and the beginning of fall.
  • Fallout 76 also showed what new content there will be in 2024. In addition to the second part of the Atlantic City update, a new area, the forested Shenandoah, will be unlocked next year. The MMORPG boasts over 17 million players.
  • What else has happened? The Elder Scrolls Online has started its winter event (via mmorpg.com). There are new quests, XP boosts, holiday-themed loot boxes and more. There are 10 daily quests in which the loot boxes can be obtained as rewards. It can contain toys or even recipes.

Players can also win tickets by taking part in the New Life Festival Quest. This allows them to receive even more rewards. The event is scheduled to run until January 9, 2024.

The big MMORPGs present their roadmap for 2024

This happened with the big MMORPGs:

  • Lost Ark doesn’t disappoint and also shows what awaits players in 2024. From January to April there is new content every month. These include a new difficulty level, 2nd anniversary celebrations, a new class and new raids.
  • There is also a lot of new content for Black Desert Online. Since December 20, 2023, players can experience the new Scholar class. The second part of the update will follow next year. This also includes a new class that uses a sword, a pipe and the power of Do.
  • All that is known for Final Fantasy XIV so far is that the new expansion “Dawntrail” will be released in summer 2024. Further information will probably be available at the fan festival, which will take place in Tokyo in January 2024. The plan for this has been in place since this week.
  • There will soon be a new hardcore mode for WoW Classic that will be even harder than the old one. As always, the characters only have one life, but trading with other players is not possible. In addition, the mailbox and the auction house cannot be used.
  • This happened with the small MMORPGs:

  • The MMORPG Mabinogi has made the leap to Unreal Engine 5. The first teaser trailer shows that the title suddenly looks like a completely different game. The technical aspects of the game will also be improved in the future.
  • Aion Retail and Aion Classic open Winterpark and Solorius Festival respectively. The festivities include XP buffs, races, boss fights, and a hunt for lost socks (via MassivelyOP).
  • The Lord of the Rings Online development team draws its conclusion. The new 64-bit servers are ready for launch, lag should no longer be a problem and the elves are next to get a graphical update (via mmorpg.com)
