Ring in new year at public events in Brantford, County of Brant

The City of Brantford and County of Brant will usher in 2024 with New Year’s Eve celebrations for the public.

Everyone is welcome to come out to the Sanderson Center on Dec. 31 for free live music, a photo booth and party favors.

The fun continues in Harmony Square with a ball drop at midnight followed by a fireworks display to ring in the new year.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone on New Year’s Eve and are very grateful to all of our sponsors, including our presenting sponsor, Hickory Dickory Deck, for helping support this free New Year’s Eve event for the community,” said Jennifer Middleton, Brantford’s special events supervisor. “We look forward to seeing everyone there.”

Doors open at 8 pm at the Sanderson Center with live music starting at 9 pm Wicked Truth will perform high energy classic rock, followed by Bryan Adams’ tribute band Summer of ’69 at 10 pm

Watch the ball drop in Harmony Square just before midnight, followed by fireworks.

Free outdoor skating will be available, weather permitting.

Visitors are encouraged to get a bite to eat at one of the downtown restaurants. A list of dining options is at downtownbrantford.ca. Reservations may be required.

There will be free street parking downtown on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 and at the municipal Market Center park at 59 Icomm Dr. Free Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift is available on New Year’s Eve from 9 pm on Dec. 31 to 1 am on Jan. 1. Schedules and routes are available at Brantford.ca/Transit.

The County of Brant’s recreation team is holding a family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration at the Syl Apps Community Center with bouncy castles on the turf, activities, and an early countdown.

This registered event has two available times: 10 am to noon and 1 pm to 3 pm The fee is $11 for a family of five. Register online at brant.ca/COBConnect

A New Year’s Eve public skate will be held at the Brant Sports Complex from 10 am to 11 am The fee is $3.

A number of free skates will also be held in January. They include:

  • Jan. 2 from 10 am to 11 am at the Brant Sports Complex.
  • Jan. 2 from 2 pm to 3 pm at the Burford Community Centre.
  • Jan. 3 from 10 am to 11 am at the Brant Sports Complex.
  • Jan. 3 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Gaukel Memorial Community Center.
