Woman charged after machete-swinging incident: Chatham-Kent police

A Chatham-Kent woman faces charges after an early morning machete-swinging incident in Chatham, police say.

Officers called to Queen Street at 4:20 am Thursday found a woman walking in the middle of street swinging a machete and yelling obscenities, Chatham-Kent police said. She woman complied with a request to drop the machete and was arrested safely.

Investigation revealed the woman, who was banned from possessing weapons, had raised the machete at a man during an argument at his Richmond Street home, police said.

A Chatham-Kent woman, 34, is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a probation order, police said. She was held pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with uttering threats

A Chatham resident faces charges after a woman texted threats to a man, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers learned a woman texted a man several times saying she was going to harm him, police said. She allegedly repeated her comments when located by police.

A Chatham woman, 40, faces two counts of uttering threats, police said. She was held pending a bail hearing.
