There are apparently other Pokémon in Pokémon GO that Ditto is currently masquerading as. We’ll show you what these are here.
What’s Ditto all about? If you are looking for Ditto, you will never find him in his untransformed form. Instead, Ditto transforms into different Pokémon and only after you have caught it will you see whether it is a Ditto.
You can find a list of Ditto’s currently possible transformations here.
In addition, Ditto can only be found in Pokémon GO for a limited time and not all year round, which further increases the difficulty of finding and catching a Ditto.
Which Pokémon can Ditto be in now? As the community reports, there are now more Pokémon that can contain a transformed Ditto. These are Arktip, Mollimorba, Monozyto, Knofensa and Velursi.
Officially, there is no new information from Niantic about this. It is not known whether there are other Pokémon that are actually transformed Ditto.
You can find the Reddit post about it here:
Good for collectors and for older special research
Why do I need Ditto? Due to the difficulty that Ditto is not immediately recognizable and you only know whether it is a Ditto after you have caught it, there are still some trainers who have not yet been able to enter Ditto into their Pokédex. Especially in its Shiny form, it’s a rare catch that you might be interested in and still missing.
You also have to catch Ditto to complete older special research. These are the special research on Mew and the special research on Meltan. Many trainers are still waiting for this special research to be completed, as Ditto can only be found for a limited time and is not immediately recognizable as Ditto.
What about with you? Do you still need Ditto for the special research on Mew and Meltan? Or are you still looking for the shiny version?
