The European Parliament and member states reached an agreement on Wednesday on a vast reform of the EU’s asylum and migration policy, following a final night of negotiations, announced the vice-president of the Margaritis Schinas Commission.
This reform, which includes a series of texts, provides in particular for reinforced control of migrant arrivals in the EU, closed centers near the borders to return more quickly those not entitled to asylum in the EU, and a mandatory solidarity mechanism between member countries for the benefit of States under migratory pressure.
