The Outfit has just arrived on Amazon Prime * and anyone who doesn’t yet know the Tarantino-esque crime thriller can look forward to 105 minutes of amazing, exciting entertainment. Because the twisting plot of this chamber play in a tailor’s shop offers thriller enjoyment that not only impresses with its good wardrobe.

In 1956, the British tailor Leonard (Mark Rylance) runs a tailoring shop in Chicago with his assistant Mable (Zoey Deutch) that produces first-class suits for expensive money. However, several gangsters are among those who can afford such tailor-made clothing. And so one evening the two killers Francis (Johnny Flynn) and Richie (Dylan O’Brien) show up at the door and ask for a favor. Fast The master tailor finds himself caught between two fronts in a deadly game of deception and now has to watch how he survives the night.

The Outfit is reminiscent of Kingsman: The Secret Service with its well-dressed gentleman fighters. The love for Quentin Tarantino’s films can again be found in the unexpected violence erupts and the bizarre characters, which do not always correspond to their appearance. Together, this results in a successful crime thriller mix that increasingly raises its narrative stakes. The fact that the gunshot wounds and emergency medical treatment of spoiled gangster sons largely take place in the tailor’s shop makes the exciting chamber play The Outfit all the more impressive.
The Twists, which always give the film a new direction, are already in the title: In English, an outfit not only refers to a set of clothes, but also to a clique of (criminal) people. Of course, we don’t want to anticipate at this point what twists await you on Amazon Prime. But with the cast in good spirits, this thriller is fun even without any prior knowledge.
Mark Rylance fits perfectly into the unpredictable film by Graham Moore (The Imitation Game). He is one of the few actors who are convincing in the role of both the dear uncle and the absolutely creepy psychopath. And if he opens his tailor’s door to trouble, you shouldn’t turn down the invitation.
