Norway is now fighting back against the heavy Swedish criticism – after the expert’s harsh statement: “Take it easy”

Trial WC” in Trondheim did not go completely painlessly.
It receives harsh criticism from the Swedish side.
– It will be superb, answers WC manager Åge Skinstad according to Nettavisen.

This weekend’s World Cup competitions can really be seen as successful from a Swedish perspective. Lynn Svahn and Emma Ribom came second and third in the sprint. Ebb Andersson won the skiathlon and came third in the 10 kilometer classic.

Swedish criticism

Even though things looked pretty good for the Swedish riders, everything was not completely 100% in Trondheim. The tracks received criticism, there were few spectators on site, and several of the spectators who were on site booed the Swedish riders before the sprint. In addition, there was chaos in the traffic around the city and the arena, as well as environmental activists entering the tracks during the men’s skiathlon.

These are also the things that Expressen’s columnist Tomas Pettersson criticizes after being there over the weekend.
“The sprint track was described as ‘not worthy of a WC’ by the Norwegian star Pole Golberg. Climate activists tried to storm Saturday’s skiathlon. The traffic situation up from the center to the ski stadium at Granåsen was chaotic, to say the least.
“Do you feel proud of this, Norway?”, Pettersson writes, among other things, in his column.

Strikes back

But now strikes Åge Skinstad, head of the World Ski Championships in 2025, back against the criticism. He says that they will now evaluate the weekend’s competitions and that everything will go well when it is time for the world championship.
– Tomas Pettersson can take it easy. This will be superb when we gather people here, says Skinstad to Nettavisen.

Several of the Swedish riders reacted strongly to the Norwegian crowd booing them when their names were called before the sprint finals. That, Skinstad believes, will not repeat itself during the WC.
– Our spectators are not allowed to boo. We will be cheering for everyone. That’s one of the best things about Norwegian audiences. We will cheer for everyone, he tells the Norwegian site.
