Can Emmanuel Macron still reform

This Monday marks a crucial stage in the French President’s second five-year term. Indeed, a week after being the subject of a motion to reject it in the National Assembly, the very controversial immigration law is being examined by a joint committee (CMP) made up of seven deputies and seven senators. The future of the text is uncertain: how can we satisfy the left wing of the majority as well as the Les Républicains party whose votes are necessary to have the law adopted?

This dilemma illustrates the difficulties of Emmanuel Macron’s second term, linked to the relative majority he benefits from in the National Assembly. In such a context, what can the rest of the five-year term look like? Dissolution, reshuffle: all the cards are on the table.
