In the Arctic, the isolation of the Russian giant weighs down science

In the Arctic as elsewhere on the planet, Western and Russian researchers have severed almost all links since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, the final nail in the coffin of cooperation which has been deteriorating since the 2010s with the toughening of Vladimir Putin. This frostbite has serious consequences for research in a region which is warming approximately four times faster than the planet and therefore serves as a climate laboratory. A laboratory where Russia, particularly through its geographical footprint, occupies a preponderant place. Since February 2022, the flow of Russian data has completely dried up.
