A pensioner who received too much in housing allowance over eight years must repay SEK 73,132 to the Pensions Authority, reports Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.
The money must be received by the end of December at the latest – otherwise there will be an interest surcharge on the debt.
Between June 2015 and October 2023, the person in question received SEK 117,000 in housing allowance, but was actually only entitled to SEK 44,000.
According to the Pensions Authority, the pensioner should have understood that too much money was paid out. This when the person in question received increased assets and income, but still had the same housing allowance.
But the person himself says that the money was not deliberately withheld.
