EU countries reached an agreement on new sanctions against Russia

This is already the 12th list of sanctions against Russia set by the European Union after Russia started its war of aggression in Ukraine.

EU leaders reached an agreement on new sanctions against Russia on Thursday. The matter was announced at the European Union leaders’ summit in Brussels.

In the statement published at the summit, it is said that the leaders of the 27 EU countries received the information about the approval of the new sanctions with joy. The agreement was close to being reached already on Tuesday, but Austria was not ready to accept the agreement at that time.

The sanctions concern, among other things, the export of diamonds from Russia and the monitoring of the Russian oil price ceiling.

This is already the 12th list of sanctions against Russia set by the European Union after Russia started its war of aggression in Ukraine.

Official approval from the Council of Ministers is still required for a formal decision.

The first information about the approval of new sanctions came when the summit of EU political leaders published its final resolution on supporting Ukraine. Political leaders will meet in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.
