Players cheat a powerful weapon into multiplayer, but the developers turn the tables

In Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 there is a special mode in which you can play a powerful weapon. Cheaters cheated on using this weapon in multiplayer – but are now suffering more than their opponents.

What kind of weapon is that? With Season 1, a special free-for-all mode was added to CoD: MW3, in which players spawn with the Ray Gun. This is an infamous miracle weapon from zombie mode.

The mode, called Vortex, takes place on three remastered multiplayer maps: Satan’s Quarry, Sporeyard, and Tetanus. So you can only get the weapon there and only play it there – at least that’s how it should be.

Cheaters have found a way to take the powerful Ray Gun into the normal multiplayer of CoD: MW3. In doing so, they make life hell for their opponents in the matches – but the developers have found a way to turn the tables.

Translation of the quote: Silent Aim (basically hitting without aiming, as if they were magnetic balls) and a Ray Gun, the game is over

This could mean that the cheaters quickly lose their fun and switch to another weapon. However, individual users are calling for harsher consequences for cheaters.

What does the community say about this? Some users are amused in their comments under the CODUpdates post on X. The user “ReinenChaos” writes: “This is really hilarious, bravo Sledgehammer Games.” Others comment laughing emotes or “LOL”.

There are also some users who are demanding a ban for cheaters and not just weapons that reflect the damage. Instead, the developers should simply prevent something like this from happening in the first place.

In the comment, one user suggests simply adding 10,000 of their own deaths to the cheater’s statistics for the lousy action – that would annoy them, since the stats are obviously important for these people.
