A Chatham resident faces charges after a man made a false report and numerous crank emergency calls to police, Chatham-Kent police say.

A man called police via 911 and the non-emergency phone line about a dozen times between 6:11 pm and 8:33 pm Monday and reported an incident investigators confirmed did not occur, police said.

The man was belligerent when emergency communication operators repeatedly cautioned him about inappropriate use of 911, police said.
Between 8:41 pm and 10:55 pm, the man made about eight more calls, yelling, screamed and used offensive language with operators, police said.
A suspect was arrested about Tuesday at a Lacroix Street home, police said.
A Chatham man, 53, is charged with public mischief and harassing communication, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Man charged twice on same day
A man was charged twice Monday after separate alleged incidents in Dresden, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called to a disturbance at Godfathers Pizza downtown about 1 pm arrested a suspect after learning a man had thrown items around the eatery and threatened a staffer who asked him to clean up the mess, police said.
A Dresden man, 21, was charged with mischief and uttering threats, police said. He was released with conditions and a Jan. 15 short date.
Officers called to a Queen Street East address about 5 p.m. arrested a suspect after learning a holding brandished a small, silver knife in an argument with his landlord, police said.
The same Dresden man was charged with assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.
