Towards “an acceleration” of the France 2030 plan, so that investments in innovation go “faster and stronger”. These are the words of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, who was this Monday, December 11 in Toulouse, on the Airbus site, in order to make an initial assessment of the public investment program in industry launched two years ago .
The president notably promised “very concrete” government measures, “from the start of next year”, in favor of “drastic simplification” and “hyper simplification” for companies “in all areas” .
“Support entrepreneurs much more, crush the accumulation of procedures”, “go to the end of what we have started to do but which is insufficient”, he listed, while the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire announced that he wanted to present a Pacte II bill at the beginning of 2024 to enable the continued simplification of standards that hinder the growth of businesses, particularly the smallest and medium-sized.
Priority to disruptive technologies
Concerning the continuation of the France 2030 plan, the president announced that priority would be given to disruptive technologies such as nuclear fusion, superconducting magnets and also CO2 capture.
Nuclear fusion and superconducting magnets, “these are two verticals that we are going to encourage a lot with France 2030 and on which I want us to redouble our efforts” on the issues of storage and new forms of energy, declared Emmanuel Macron. Concerning CO2 capture, the Head of State also mentioned an acceleration of investments which “will allow France to reduce its unavoidable industrial emissions by 10% by 2030”.
Develop the space sector
France will also support the development of a cargo spacecraft, capable of transporting cargo to future space stations, Emmanuel Macron also announced, judging the market “potentially considerable, both in its civil and military needs”.
“We must launch into this competition, but with the same method as for the launchers, by opening the way to private initiatives, by authorizing the riskiest bets,” affirmed the French head of state. He explained that support for the development of a space cargo ship “will be one of the main axes of France 2030 on space in the coming years” because “we cannot be satisfied with a world where all the societies of tomorrow will be American or Chinese in this area.
“We must continue to accelerate”
For the rest, the Head of State praised the results of his economic policy carried out for six years around “three interdependent objectives”: “sovereignty”, “full employment” and “decarbonization”. In this sense, he estimated that France 2030 and its 54 billion euros in planned credits were starting to bear fruit.
While emphasizing that we had “not arrived at all”, “because things are going much, much faster” in China and the United States, he insisted. “We must continue to accelerate”, “go faster and stronger”, he said several times, referring to innovation, particularly in terms of energy. The “key” is “acceleration, acceleration, acceleration”, he insisted.
