Veera Kivirinta finished fifth in the women’s 50m breaststroke final on the final day of the short course European Championships in Romania. Kivirinna’s time dropped to 29.79 after a bad start. There were 38 hundredths of a way to the EC bronze

In the final, Kivirinta was 23 hundredths of a second short of the record she swam in the semi-finals.

– The swimming was good, but the walls were too far. Of course, my expectations were higher. I knew that the possibilities were anything, emotional Kivirinta said and wiped tears from her eyes several times.

The record in the semifinals was pleasing, even though the final ended in disappointment.

– I am satisfied with my record in the semifinals. I give myself a good grade for the Games, even if it’s sad now. I can’t stop yet, I’ll swim at least until next summer, Kivirinta said.

Italian Benedetta Pilato celebrated the European championship with a time of 28.86.

Brännkärr was also disappointed in his swimming

Ronny Brännkärr finished eighth in the men’s 100m individual medley final. Brännkärr swam a time of 52.61 and thus missed his semi-final time by two hundredths. of Austria Bernhard Reitshammer won the championship with a time of 51.39.

– I’m not satisfied, but I swam what was available today. I couldn’t take it anymore at this point, on the other hand, everyone else’s races have been just as long, Brännkärr thought.

Brännkärr previously achieved sixth place in the 200-meter medley at the European Championships.

– A good trip, definitely. The best races of my career and give me confidence going forward, Brännkärr summed up.

Laura Lahtinen fourth place in the women’s 200-meter butterfly remained the Finns’ best finish at the European Championships.
