A short moment can change a lot in Minecraft – and often it’s not even in your own hands. At least we can laugh about it now.
There are a lot of dangers in Minecraft that can ruin everyday life for the players. One of these dangers is lightning, which only occurs during thunderstorms. As a rule, lightning is not particularly dangerous – if you are hit directly by it, you will suffer 5 damage (2 ½ hearts) and be set on fire. Since it rains, the fire is usually put out quickly – at least on the lower difficulties.
But a clip from the Minecraft subreddit shows how bad luck you can have with lightning.
What can you see there? In Sad_Competition9186’s video we see a player’s farm during a thunderstorm. The player is sorting through his inventory when lightning strikes – right on a trap door:
However, beneath this trap door was the player’s entire chicken farm. Confining the animals in a small space in this way is a simple solution to easily collect eggs.
However, lightning made short work of all the chickens, killing the entire coop. The player has no choice but to pick up the meat and feathers.
At least: The meat is at least cooked by the lightning strike.
What else can lightning do? However, lightning also has a few “mythical” abilities in Minecraft. Because they not only set objects, animals and the player on fire, but can also cause some very special effects, which are mostly of a negative nature:
Lightning can therefore cause very funny, random effects – but can also quickly become a deadly danger if, for example, your Villager village is suddenly taken over by a witch.
Community is afraid of lightning: There is a lot of consensus in the community and in the comments under the video: lightning is more dangerous than creepers.
The main problem is that lightning fire can spread quickly, especially on higher difficulties. Entire houses or areas of land often burn down, along with tamed wolves and a base that you have worked on for days.
Could this have been avoided? Yes. Since there have been copper deposits in Minecraft, players have also been able to build lightning rods. These ensure that in the event of a thunderstorm, lightning in the immediate vicinity always strikes the lightning rod and not elsewhere. This and many others could have been avoided.
Do you protect yourself from lightning in Minecraft? Or do you like risk?
