Plane evacuated at Arlanda – due to smoke-filled cabin

An operation is currently underway at Arlanda Airport.

i can confirm that a plane that was supposed to take off from Arlanda to Krakow received an indication of smoke, says Carl Mossberg, press spokesperson at Swedavia.

An operation is underway at Arlanda Airport, north of Stockholm, after an alarm about the development of smoke in a cabin.

– We just got there and have found the heat source, says the line operator at the rescue service.

The plane, operated by Ryan Air, is at the gate and has been evacuated. According to Express information, it concerns nearly 200 passengers who were forced off the plane.

It was when the aircraft was about to take off from Arlanda to Krakow that the pilot received an indication of smoke.

– The whole thing went smoothly. The plane remained on the ground and chose to return to the gate, says Carl Mossberg, press spokesperson at Swedavia.

What caused the smoke development is still unclear.

The police are also on site to assist the emergency services.
