The PvP shooter The Finals was surprisingly released on December 8th. Shortly afterwards, the game is now struggling with mixed reviews on Steam, which, according to Discord, the developers cannot understand. We have the details for you.
What is The Finals? The Finals is a first-person PvP shooter from Embark Studios. In it, you fight in teams of three to win a game show. The setting is a virtual arena.
There are three modes in total:
You can compete with three different classes, the so-called candidates:

On Steam, players are not happy about The Finals
Why are the reviews on Steam so mixed? Although the game was the most popular game on Steam at the beginning of November, the reviews shortly after its release are now mixed.
On the one hand, the players criticize that feedback from the open beta for The Heavy class was not accepted by the developers. It also comes up every now and then that AI was used for the voice-overs. Another point of criticism is the balancing. The bigger point, however, is that many players perceive their character’s movement speed to be slowed.
Here are some voices from the Steam reviews:
The community is also discussing the problem on Reddit. But most users can’t seem to understand it.
What do the developers say? The development team behind The Finals spoke up on the game’s Discord server:
The developers write that they did not revise the movement speed itself between the beta and release versions. In fact, they suspect a combination of small adjustments to the animations, sound and settings as the cause of the problem.
They are currently working on a solution and hope for increased player feedback.
How can you solve the problem? In fact, some players have already found a solution that seems to work: With the release of the release version, the field of view was turned down to the default 60. In the beta it was probably still 71.
If the movement speed seems quite slow for you, a look at your settings might help. However, we cannot yet confirm whether this is the entire solution.
