That’s what Indiana Jones 5 is about
Indy and his colleague Basil Shaw (Toby Jones) are on a secret mission in the French Alps during World War II to save a powerful object from the Nazis: the so-called Wheel of Destiny, with which the scientist Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen) Wants to detect space-time transitions in order to turn the tide of war in Germany’s favor.
25 years later, the war is long over and the USA has now won the space race, while the old-fashioned professor Dr. Henry Jones Jr. can no longer inspire enthusiasm among his students. But then his goddaughter Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) comes along and implicates the elderly archaeologist a new adventure in which the events of the past and present converge.
Is Indiana Jones 5 worth it?
Given its high cost of around $300 million, Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fate fell well short of expectations at the box office and received a mixed reception, although the latter mainly depends on one thing. However, the film received a solid 6.3 out of 10 points in the Moviepilot community and there was also a review in the FILMSTARTS a good 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Accordingly, Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny cannot compete with the first three films in the series, but it is good enough, “that Indy can now hang up his hat and whip with a clear conscience“. So the film is for fans of Indiana Jones and adventure popcorn cinema undoubtedly a recommendation.
