Author William Collier claims that his Book reached Adam McKay through several corners must be: He sent his own daughter Adrienne Metz a copy of his novel back in 2007, with the assumption that she would pass it on. Metz worked as an assistant for Jimmy Miller Entertainment (a division of Mosaic Media Group). Jimmy Miller is said to have been Adam McKay’s manager until 2015 and the two worked together on films like Step Brothers.

It is currently uncertain what the outcome of the plagiarism lawsuit will be. A lawsuit two years after its release could bring new attention to the Netflix film. According to MovieWeb, Don’t Look Up is number 2 on the most-watched list with over 408 million hours watched Netflix movies and is only surpassed by Red Notice.
