Charles Bronson is probably known to many film fans as the mysterious man who appeared in the 1968 western classic A Song of Death picks up the harmonica and Ennio Morricone’s signature music brought to life. Six years later he embodied another iconic role in film history.
A Man Sees Red: The violent revenge thriller starring Charles Bronson was too much for audiences in the 1970s
In A Man Sees Red, Bronson takes on the role of Paul Kersey, who is actually a leads an unspectacular life. He works in an architect’s office and wouldn’t harm a fly. When he comes home one day and finds his wife murdered and his daughter raped, things are about to change.
As the story progresses, Paul Kersey transforms into one of the most famous representatives of the revenge thriller. A simple man who takes the law into his own hands – and in the bloodiest way. This was too much for parts of the audience in the 1970s. In Germany the film promptly ended up on the index.

Based on the novel The vigilante or a man sees red (originally: Death Wish) by Brian Garfield, director Michael Winner (The Mechanic) created a thriller that caused great controversy due to its depiction of vigilantism.
