Ultimately, two motions were submitted. A motion of censure was supported by the entire opposition. A motion of no confidence was only supported by VVD, CDA, DENK, UtrechtNu!, Utrecht Solidair, EenUtrecht and Stadsbelang Utrecht. The difference between these two motions is that a motion of censure can be seen as a strong yellow card, while an adopted motion of no confidence would have irrevocably led to the councilor’s resignation. In total, Van Hooijdonk has now survived nine motions of no confidence and censure. This is unique by Utrecht standards.
