Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Yamama Palace in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, where he came as part of his Middle East visit. Prince Salman welcomed Putin at the door.
“NEXT MEETING MUST BE IN MOSCOW”
In his speech before the meeting, Putin invited Selman to Russia for the next meeting and said, “First of all, thank you for your invitation. We were waiting for you in Moscow. But I know that circumstances brought changes to these plans. But as I said, nothing can hinder the development of our friendly relations. While I was in the region for a planned visit to the United Arab Emirates, I took advantage of your invitation to meet with you and all our other friends. “But the next meeting should be in Moscow,” he said.
“OUR RELATIONSHIPS HAVE REACHED AN UNPRECEDENTED DIMENSION”
Reminding that the Soviet Union was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Saudi Arabia, Putin said, “In any case, we respected the will of the Saudi Arabian people to build their own future. A lot has developed during this time. In the last 7 years, our relations have reached an unprecedented level. We have stable and very good relations in the fields of political cooperation, economy and humanitarian affairs. “Of course, it is very important for all of us to exchange information and evaluations about what is happening in the region,” he said.
“WE ACHIEVED IMPORTANT RESULTS”
Selman, on the other hand, emphasized that they are in constant communication with Russia for the security of the Middle East and said, “Thanks to the political dialogue, we were able to have a positive impact on a number of processes taking place in the Middle East, and this made it possible to strengthen regional security.”
Referring to Saudi Arabia-Russia relations, Selman said, “In the past years, we have achieved important results in energy, agriculture, trade, investment and other fields. We are open to great opportunities where we can do important work for the benefit of the whole world. “Our relations also have positive effects on a global scale,” he said. Selman also added that they saw Putin as a “special guest”.
