“What did we do?” Sci-Fi director Zack Snyder was warned about the infamous Barbie joke

Sometimes you are the windshield, and sometimes you are the mosquito. This applies, among other things, to mocking jokes – and to sci-fi expert Zack Snyder (Rebel Moon). In the cinema highlight Barbie, a joke takes aim at the hype surrounding Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The director was warned about the malice before going to the cinema.

In a scene in Barbie, Barbie (Margot Robbie) and her companions are able to free themselves from the Kens’ yoke. One of them then describes her trance during the oppression with the words “it was like a Dream in which I was extremely interested in the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League.”

Now speaking to Men’s Health, Snyder says:

[Die Barbie-Produzenten] have warned us and said, “There’s a reference to Justice League in the movie. I hope you get it. We think it’s pretty funny.”

Snyder then saw the film and loved it. He thinks Barbie is great and the joke is pretty good, said the director. Incidentally, he agrees that the joke is not directed at him, but at the extreme hype surrounding his cut version of the DC film.

As Snyder suggests, he finds the connection between himself and the cultural phenomenon of the Snyder Cut uncanny. He refers to them as “Craziness“, which makes him ask: “What did we do? What happened?”
