Frida Karlsson and Linn Svahn back in the national ski team again – but there is a concern

Frida Karlsson and Linn Svahn are back in the cross country team after missing the competitions in Gällivare due to covid infection.
National team manager Anders Byström, on the other hand, admits that there is uncertainty surrounding several skaters ahead of the World Cup competitions in Östersund.

Last week it was announced that the star trio Frida Karlsson, Lynn Svahn and Jonna Sundling tested positive for covid-19 after the World Cup premiere in Ruka at the end of November. The trio thus missed the competitions in Gällivare this weekend.

Ahead of this week’s World Cup competitions in Östersund, two of them, Karlsson and Svahn, are back in the Swedish team. Sundling, on the other hand, is not yet fully healthy and is missing from the new squad – something she herself announced on Instagram on Monday evening.
“She has continued symptoms after a positive covid test after the premiere weekend in Ruka”, writes the Swedish Skiing Association in a press release.

Myhlback again

National team manager Anders Byström:
“We will hopefully get back some of those who missed the competitions in Gällivare, but there is uncertainty surrounding several of them and we will have to wait closer to the weekend before we know if they can compete as planned.”

17-year-old talent Alvar Myhlbackwho finished 37th in 10 kilometers in freestyle in Gällivare and thus became historic as the youngest Swedish men’s skater in the World Cup, is again in Östersund.

On Saturday, the ladies and gents run sprint races in classic style and on Sunday it is 10 kilometers in free style. Just like last week, Sweden has to field more riders because it is a competition on home ground.
