The Saab factory rescue – is the Emily GT buyer a scam?

The Emily GT electric car has been developed by Nevs, which was started out of the estate of Saab.

At the beginning of the year, the capital for Nevs ran out and in March the operations were closed down. At the eCarExpo fair in Gothenburg, it was revealed last week that the new Canadian-Lebanese car manufacturer EV Electra is taking over the project.

According to EV Electra’s founder Jihad Muhammed, the plan is for the Emily GT to be manufactured in the old Saab factory in Trollhättan and for production to start already in July.

New hope for the Saab factory: Emily GT becomes reality

The expert suspects owls in the bog

The news that cars will once again be rolling out of the Stallbacka factory has been received with enthusiasm by many, but according to YouTuber Peter Esse, there is reason to be skeptical. In the video below, he explains why.

It’s all talk

Esse begins by taking a closer look at EV Electra’s existing business, and finds a jumble of websites, advertising gibberish and rendered car models with extreme performance figures.

Apart from a few, hand-built sports cars, however, they do not seem to have started any production to speak of.

Questionable crypto escapades

Another warning sign that Esse raises is a deal that took place between EV Electra and electric car startup Detroit Electric in 2021.

EV Electra reportedly pumped $500 million into Detroit Electric, but what has happened to the partnership after that is unclear. However, according to what Esse can find on Linkedin, Detroit Electric seems to feel robbed of its model ES.01.

Namely, the ES.01, with an EV Electric emblem on the front, has been used to promote a new crypto-token, dubbed the EV Now token, which seems never to have materialized.

Going to the stock exchange

According to information from Saab Planet, EV Electra is now planning to go public by merging with the listed company DrazCanna Inc.

– Here then it looks like it starts with Emily GT, and then they are going into some kind of stock exchange adventure with investors, reasons Esse.

Unclear future for Emily GT

Esse ends the video with two conclusions, both of which indicate that the future remains uncertain for the Emily GT and the old Saab factory.

In part, he states that EV Electra: – Does not seem to have the knowledge and experience, and perhaps not the finances, to start mass producing cars in Trollhättan, or anywhere else either.

According to Esse, it is worse if there is a repeat of the deal with Detroit Electric, where a car from a partner company is used to market a financial instrument.

– I actually get a bit sick to my stomach from it, Esse concludes.
