Francis Lawrence is also returning to the director’s chair for the fifth part of the Hunger Games saga, but otherwise a lot has changed, as The Ballad of Songbird & Snakes takes a long leap into the past.
The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbird & Snakes will be released in cinemas on November 16th and can already be pre-ordered. The 4K*, DVD* and Blu-ray* versions will be released on April 5th for home cinema.

Hunger Games impresses with a lot of action and strong characters
The positive reactions overflow before the premiere. Daniel Howat from Next Best Picture expresses his enthusiasm for X and praises it as the best Hunger Games film, which is convincing but also entertaining thanks to its serious character study. Because in addition to the fantastic acting performance the action is not neglected. Other voices also report positively on the latest novel adaptation.

As with the previous films, Lionsgate was able to get some stars to join the cast. Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis and Jason Schwartzman, among others, are at their best. Lead actors Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler don’t have that many films in their CVs yet, but the latter even did for her debut performance in West Side Story win a Golden Globe.
That’s what The Ballad of Songbird & Snakes is about
In just over two and a half hours, the story of Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), who we know from previous films as the President of Panem, is told. But the new part begins much earlier with the young Coriolanus, who is the last hope of his disgraced Snow family. When he is chosen to mentor Lucy (Rachel Zegler), a girl from the impoverished District 12, in the 10th Hunger Games, he sees the chance to change his fate.
The prequel is again based on a novel by Suzanne Collins, which was published in 2020. Whether the reviews live up to their promises will be shown in the cinema and in the spring the Hunger Games can be seen again in the home cinema.
