Marion Cotillard reacts to the scene which earned her criticism

And not only because the film was the conclusion of the trilogy Batman by Christopher Nolan with Christian Bale. One scene in particular caused a lot of reaction and earned Marion Cotillard a lot of criticism: the one where her character, Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter, dies in the last part of the film. Many spectators were, at best doubtful, at worst insulting, on the performance of the French actress during this passage. However, it took four years for the actress to react publicly to this scene.

“I found the reaction a little disproportionate because it’s hard to see yourself reduced to that, when I do the best I can to find authenticity in each character …”, reacted Marion Cotillard, the trembling voice, in an interview with Allocinated in 2016. Often in the cinema, many takes are thrown away because an actor is not necessarily convincing on the first try. The Oscar-winning actress, however, was surprised that this take was kept during the editing of The Dark Knight Rises : “There are failures, and when you see them on the screen, you say to yourself… ‘Why? Marion Cotillard thus admits to having been hurt by the surge of mocking or insulting messages about her performance in The Dark Knight Rises. “To be reduced to a scene, it was not necessarily very pleasant.” She concedes, however, that she learned to laugh about it and move on: “There really are more serious things in life than that, even if some things can hurt. But I didn’t make it to the end of the day. neither does the roller.” Before this interview, Guillaume Canet had defended his companion in the columns of Première, believing that “Nolan should have mounted another hold.”

Synopsis – It’s been eight years since Batman (Christian Bale) has been seen.
