Speaking to the Associated Press (AP) and requesting anonymity, two senior officials noted that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been conducting a “counterintelligence” investigation against Cuba for a long time.
Authorities stated that 73-year-old Rocha, the former US Ambassador to Bolivia, was detained during the investigation.
It was reported that Rocha was accused of “serving the interests of Cuba” by the US Department of Justice.
No statement has been made from the USA yet regarding the issue.
