Synopsis – In the previous episode of Spider-Man, Mysterio revealed the true identity of Spider-Man: the whole neighborhood of Peter Parker now knows that he is the one hiding under the Spider-Man costume. Torn between his personal life and his superhero responsibilities, Peter asks Doctor Strange for a special favor: to make the world forget he’s Spider-Man. This decision, however, will have serious consequences on the chronology of the universe and its events.
After leaking on social media, the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer was released on August 24, 2021 by Sony Pictures. After the events of Far From Home, we find the spider-man, still played by Tom Holland, in this new film from the Marvel trilogy which immerses the superhero in the multiverse. Below is the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
A month before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a new trailer has been unveiled. These new images were the opportunity to discover for the first time the arrival of the Green Goblin, the Lizard, the Sandman and Electro.
Don’t read on if you want to keep the surprise on Spider-Man No Way Home. The cast of the film has always refused to answer or denied outright when asked about the presence or not of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the casting. The fans will however have the good surprise to find the actor of the Sam Raimi franchise, but also that of The Amazing Spider-Man in the cast of Spider-Man No Way Home. The two former incarnations of Peter Parker are present to lend a hand to the character of Tom Holland to beat the bad guys of the old films. However, we will not reveal more about the plot and their importance in the blockbuster.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is Tom Holland’s third solo film as Peter Parker. And Spider-Man’s adventures within Sony/the MCU will not end immediately. Producer Amy Pascal had announced a new trilogy starring Peter Parker: “This is not the last Spider-Man movie, she told Fandango. We are ready to do the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel.”
Since then, the Spider-Man: No Way Home producer has been more measured about a potential sequel with Tom Holland, saying it would all depend on the actor’s decision. With Télé-Loisirs, the interpreter of Peter Parker in the MCU said that he does not “know what the future of the saga will look like. Spider-Man will always live in me, he was such an important part in my life, he helped my career take off and contributed to the happiness of my future… But if it’s time for someone else to wear the costume, I’d be happy to hand it over.”
After many twists and revelations, Spider-Man: No Way Home concludes with two post-credits scenes that not only open up new possibilities for Spider-Man, but also for the rest of the MCU. If you want to keep the surprise, do not read the rest of this article. The first takes place after the post-credits scene of Venom 2. It features Eddie Brock, in the skin of Venom, who comes from another universe and who was snapped up like the other villains of the film. Quickly, the character played by Tom Hardy returns to his universe, but mistakenly leaves a piece of the Venom symbiote on the bar counter where he is seated. We can then understand that Venom will certainly be the big villain of the next Spider-Man film, but that he could be played by another actor than Tom Hardy.
The second post-credits scene isn’t really one, since it’s actually a trailer. The first trailer for Doctor Strange 2: The Multiverse of Madness is revealed at the very end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The opportunity to discover the wizard of the MCU facing the multiverse. In his quest, he will be helped by Wanda and will even find himself facing an evil version of himself. Series enthusiasts will probably have already discovered it if they have watched the series What if…?, released on Disney++.
Which villains in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
As we discovered in the trailers, Peter Parker will face villains from the old Spider-Man franchises in No Way Home. The hero embodied by Tom Holland will therefore discover the following bad guys: Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Electro (Jamie Foxx), The Lizard, Sand-Man or even The Green Goblin. For the latter, who was played in the past by Willem Dafoe then Dane Dehaan, it seems that it is the actor of the franchise with Tobey Maguire who is back, according to IMDB.
When is Spider-Man: No Way Home set in the MCU?
With the many films and series that now populate the MCU, it is difficult to situate oneself in the Marvel chronology. Remember, however, that Spider-Man: No Way Home is set just after the end of the second part of Tom Holland’s adventures, Spider-Man: Far From Home. In the post-credits scene for it, the villainous Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) revealed Spider-Man’s true identity. No Way Home is therefore directly after these events, but also several months after Avengers: Engame.
