Sweden took the first relay victory in the World Cup since 2009

See Ebba Andersson’s jerk and the Swedish scenes of joy in the player above.

The USA with Jessie Diggins in the lead went hard during the relay in Gällivare. The Americans took an early hold on Sunday’s competition.

Norway grabbed the lead, while Sweden was third. But on the second leg, things started to turn around for the Swedes.

First the Norwegians lost. Then Sweden caught up and passed the USA on the third leg thanks to Ebba Andersson’s pick-up.

Sweden then went for a knock and they were finally able to secure the victory in superior style, with 13.5 seconds.

This was the first time since 2009 that the Swedish cross-country women took a World Cup victory in a relay.

Behind Sweden, Germany ended up in second place and the USA in third place. Big disappointment for Norway, then, who missed the podium.

The Swedish second team finished fifth in the competition.
