You just treated yourself by buying new clothes. But before wearing them, as you may be tempted to do immediately, it is essential that they first go through the washing machine.
After a shopping trip, we generally want only one thing: to wear the clothes we just bought. Yes, showing off the latest sweater or pants in front of your colleagues the day after purchasing them is tempting, but it is strongly discouraged.
A purchased item of clothing must be washed
The little sweater you fell for, in reality, other people have tried it before you. For this reason, it is essential to wash the clothes you have just purchased. In an article from New York PostKim Romine, an American scientist, gives more details. “The human body naturally secretes organic waste during the day. This represents on average one liter of sweat, 40 grams of sebum and skin fat, ten grams of skin cells and ten grams of salt”.
Just to avoid keeping this waste on you, you have to wash your clothes. In addition, when trying on clothes, each person also scatters residues of perfumes, cosmetic products, etc. on the fabric, which must also be removed by washing.
A possible cause of irritation, for sensitive skin
Let’s imagine that the item has just been put on the shelves and you buy it immediately, without anyone having tried it. Do you think that washing the part is then useless? No, because the garment, if it does not contain traces of fittings by previous people who were able to wear it, it was still made, then stored in warehouses and the textile was put in contact with all kinds of surfaces, before being hung in store.
For all these reasons, washing the garment is more than necessary. The scientist specifies: “If not washed before wearing, these substances and chemicals can irritate sensitive skin.” For reasons of hygiene but also health, it is therefore essential to wash clothing before wearing it.
