Mona Brorsson surprises everyone with a successful race – becomes the best Swedish after a dream shoot: “Fantastic!”

There was talk of Hanna and Elvira Öberg.
But the best Swede in the sprint was instead Mona Brorsson.
– Nice to see Mona get such a good race, says Björn Ferry in SVT.

In Wednesday’s relay, it was second place for Sweden. Thanks to Elvira Öberg’s fantastic effort, it looked like a victory for a long time. But in the end the shooting collapsed Hanna Öberg with several booms which gave Norway the win.

Öberg’s failure

During Friday it was time for a sprint in Östersund. At that time, the Öberg sisters were expected to be hungry for revenge and to be at the top. Hanna Öberg was first out and was responsible for stable riding, but there were two barriers (one lying down, one standing up).

Elvira Öberg was even better in the track, but for her it was a total of three hurdles (1+2), and then there was no question of a top position.
– It was good until the last two shots at a standstill. I’m really unhappy with that because I go from being in the lead to barely being in the top ten, says Elvira in SVT after the race.

Hanna and Elvira finished in 14th and eleventh place respectively. Lynn Persson started well with zero bars in prone, but one bar in standing added too many seconds to her time. It was a 13th place for the 29-year-old.
– I still feel satisfied. I was a little shaky, but I’m happy with a boom today, says Persson in the broadcast.

Instead, surprisingly enough Mona Brorsson best Swedish. The 33-year-old came tenth, 34.8 seconds behind first, with flawless shooting in the competition. A really gratifying effort after Brorsson had a tough time in last weekend’s distance race.
– Top race! Fantastic, what a run she’s running. Fun!, says the national team coach Johan Hagström in SVT.

For a while it looked like it could be the second podium of his career in the World Cup, but Brorsson’s ride for the day was not strong enough.
– Nice to see Mona get such a good race. But she can’t make it all the way to the final round, says Bjorn Ferry in SVT.

Top three

Stina Nilsson had another tough competition, with four barriers in the horizontal and too weak riding. In the end, she finished 69th, the worst Swede for the day. Anna Magnusson was 68th.
Tilda Johansson, who had a free place after winning the IBU Cup, finished 42nd with a ban. A good effort considering the conditions.

The winner was the French Lou Jeanmonnot. Behind her were the Norwegians Karoline Offigstad Knotten and June Arnekleiv both of which impressed. In total, there were four Norwegians in the top ten, once again the Norwegians perform at their best.
