The men’s biathlon relay became semi-heavy Swedish history. In the World Cup at home in Östersund, Sweden slipped far behind early on – but then eventually finished sixth.
Just a few hours before the race was forced Jesper Nelin cancel due to cold symptoms. He was replaced by Oscar Brandt who incurred a penalty round on the first stage. He then switched over to Malte Stefansson which also incurred a penalty round.

A heavy Swedish start and a steep uphill. When Stefansson switched to Martin Ponsiluoma Sweden was two minutes and 39 seconds behind leading Norway.
And Sweden was never close to a tight cluster, but moved up several positions.
Ponsiluoma shifted to Sebastian Samuelsson which took Sweden to finish in sixth place, two minutes and 17 seconds behind Norway. France was second and Germany third.
