Stop in the train traffic in Sundsvall after a collision with a post

There is a stop in the train traffic between Sundsvall and Njurundabommen due to an electrical fault, the Swedish Transport Agency writes on its website. The electrical fault affects, among other things, train traffic in Gävle, Sundsvall, Örnsköldsvik and Umeå.

Norrtåg writes in a statement that a snow removal vehicle collided with a pole that holds up contact lines during yesterday evening.

“A contact line has collapsed on the spot,” writes Norrtåg.

During Thursday morning, Norrtåg states that there is no forecast for when the route will be able to be open to traffic again.

“There has been a standstill at the site during the night, which has meant that our vehicles and staff have not been able to get to their starting stations for the morning traffic. Therefore, the morning traffic has also been affected by the traffic disruption,” the statement reads.

Katarina Wolffram, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration, tells SVT that it is difficult to fix the problem with the pole.

– It is not only the post that is damaged, but also the entire bridge between the posts is damaged, she says.
