“You are destroying his life’s work”

There is a bizarre situation surrounding the German YouTuber Gurkensohn. He has apparently sold his channels. The new owner, a “success coach,” uploaded strange videos to his channel. The German Twitch streamer Tanzban is dealing with the situation and can’t believe what he’s hearing.

This is the situation?

  • Gurkensohn is a German YouTuber with around 330,000 subscribers on YouTube. The Twitch streamer MontanaBlack once said that he made Gurkensohn big through his reactions to him.
  • But suddenly Gurkensohn himself could no longer be seen on his channels, but strange and very bad videos appeared in which a person apparently pretended to be Gurkensohn while saying some crap in an AI voice (via YouTube).
  • The situation has now cleared up: Another influencer, “success coach”, Dominik Greger, has taken over Gurkensohn’s accounts and the YouTuber himself is suffering from depression, it is said.
  • Twitch streamer Tanzban talks about his difficult past and still regrets his lack of schooling to this day

Influencer takes over Gurkensohn’s channel and uploads very bad AI videos there

This is what Greger says: In a statement that he uploaded to the Gurkensohn channel (via YouTube), Dominik Greger explains how the situation came about:

  • He has been a fan of Gurkensohn for a long time and is friends with him.
  • Gurkensohn contacted him saying he needed financial support while he wanted to complete a fitness transformation. He needs enough money for food and housing while he concentrates on his training.
  • Greger entered into a partnership with Gurkensohn, supported him financially with around €20,000 to €40,000 and helped him with the economic part of the business. But when Gurkensohn was no longer feeling well mentally, Greger took over his channels.
  • He tried to enliven the channels with AI videos, but received a lot of hate for it and now wanted to explain himself.
  • Greger says he could have sold the canals for a lot of money, but he doesn’t want to destroy Gurkensohn’s life’s work.

“The account has no value without a cucumber son”

This is how Tanzban comments on the situation: The German Twitch streamer Tanzban reacted to the video with increasing bewilderment. In any case, he doesn’t have a high opinion of “successful coaches” who lure people into groups and promise them a lot of money.

One contradiction in particular struck him (via YouTube):

  • Greger repeatedly emphasizes that he means well to Gurkensohn and helps him out of sympathy
  • At the same time, Greger also pursues business interests, first securing 30% of the income and then immediately taking over the channels
  • Especially Greger’s statement that he could have sold Gurkensohn’s channels for €60,000 to €80,000 is not accepted by Tanzban at all:

“Hey, thanks for not selling the account you took. Nobody pays the money for it. The account has no value without Gurkenson. Such nonsense. The range has no value at all without him.”

Tanzban then has to laugh at Greger’s statement about the “standing of the channel”.

When Greger later says that Gurkensohn received a lot of “hate” from the community for the AI videos, Tanzban angrily intervenes again:

“It’s not your community. You have no right to it at all. You made sure that a video on a channel like this… [schlechte] rating has. You caused a lot of people to unsubscribe from it because there’s no longer any Gurkensohn behind it. You’re ruining his life’s work.”

How do others react? You can also see from Greger’s video on Gurkensohn’s channel that the sympathies are clearly distributed. None of the fans can understand why someone else is taking over the channel. People reject the situation and are clearly on the side of banning dancing.

Tanzban is currently significantly more active on Twitch than in the past few months. Apparently a side effect of his financial situation:

Twitch streamer Tanzban says he’s broke: Bought shirts for 400 euros that don’t even fit him
