Now he opens up about his feelings before the historic debut.

The World Cup premiere in Finnish Ruka was a great success for our Swedish ski ladies who took full advantage. It was all the more difficult on the men’s side, where none of the skaters were even close to threatening the Norwegians, who once again showed their superiority.

Alvar gets the chance

But there is hope for the future where young riders like William Poromaa and Edwin Anger may threaten the northern beetles already this year. Then there is a crown jewel of growth that everyone is talking about – and which is also causing concern in Norway.

We are of course talking about the 17-year-old super talent Alvar Myhlback who is predicted to have a bright future in cross-country skiing. Now the teenager gets his big chance after impressing during the pre-season, Alvar is ready to compete at the World Cup for the very first time in Gällivare this weekend.

Myhlback’s debut

Myhlback received a lot of attention already last year when, as a 16-year-old, he received a dispensation to run the Vasaloppet as a minor. He then finished in a sensational eighth place and has been a name on many people’s lips ever since.

But despite that, he was poked in the World Cup premiere in Ruka. Now awaits the big debut as a senior as Sweden, as the organizer, gets to pick more skaters into the squad.
– We shouldn’t expect things right now. However, it will be a very good experience for him. Everything around is so much bigger in a World Cup, so it will be a very good experience, says the national team manager Anders Byström to the news agency TT.

The Bjursås IK skater is the son of Petter Myhlback, former national team skater and head coach for Sweden, and now opens up about his feelings before the VC debut. The 17-year-old’s words make all Swedish ski lovers hope for a fantastic breakthrough this year.
– I’ve been waiting for this for a very long time, so now you’re just focused on getting up and riding the track. It will be a lot of fun, says Alvar to Radiosporten.
