There are a lot of annoying weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 that annoy players, but one is so bad that players want it deleted. You probably know her because she neither shoots bullets nor has a magazine.
What weapon is it? This is the operational shield that players can carry on their back with a primary weapon if they have the Rifleman or Overkill Vest equipped.
So while this is a short-range melee weapon and doesn’t actually pose a lethal threat, many players still like to use it as “armor.” These turtles then race through the map, tearing apart every player around them while remaining unscathed, and that really stinks for most players.
Players despise the sign and want to see it deleted
Why is the sign so bad? The shield, as already mentioned, acts as armor here. Players who carry the shield on their back will therefore receive little to no fire and can therefore survive ambushes better if they are shot at from behind.
If a player carries the shield frontally, he can withstand enemy fire and then switch to his firearm during breaks in fire to shoot at his enemies. In theory it doesn’t sound that spectacular, but in practice the tactic works extremely well.
It’s unfair but effective and is especially helpful in modes like Search and Destroy, where you’re helpless thanks to animations. The shield is also difficult to counter since many things can be blocked.
These points leave fans angry because they think such a combination has no place in Call of Duty (via reddit.com). Not fighting in combat and preferring to maneuver through the map as a turtle simply doesn’t fit into the shooter and should therefore be completely deleted from MW3 or converted into a kill series.
How can you take action against the sign? Although the shield is difficult to counter, there are a few tactics and items you can use to lure the turtle out of its protection.
It’s best to use a blinding and Semtex grenade. The stun grenade is designed to slow down the enemy while the Semtex is placed behind the player. This is how your enemy will be blown up.
But you can also use thermite or aerosol to create area damage. This can cause the enemy to panic so that you can quickly attack them from behind if they have their shield active in front of them.
Last but not least, shock sticks are also a strong alternative to pinning your opponents for a short moment. This gives you a short window of time to get to your enemy’s weak point and give him the final blow.
