Snow, cold and icy conditions. That’s what the rest of week 48 offers.
– There is a lot of snow coming in, especially in the eastern parts of the country, says Lovisa Svanberg.
In Uppsala and Stockholm, between 5 and 15 centimeters of snow is expected on Tuesday afternoon. Even large parts of the Norrland coast can expect upwards of 30 centimeters.
In connection with this, SMHI has issued a yellow weather warning.
“Snowfall from Tuesday morning, which can be abundant and, among other things, cause traffic problems. There will also be a locally fresh northeasterly wind,” writes SMHI.
Orange warning
From Tuesday morning and a day ahead, the coastal strip between Skellefteå and Umeå has been covered with an orange warning. There, strong winds are expected in combination with heavy snowfall.
– It is really strong wind with gusts between 20 and 25 meters per second. So it’s really difficult weather conditions we have today, says Lovisa Svanberg.
According to SMHI, this could mean very limited accessibility on roads and major problems for all types of public transport, including air traffic.
– We have had time to go into increased preparedness in order to be able to handle several events at the same time, regardless of whether it concerns rail or road traffic, says Trafikverket’s press manager Bengt Olsson.
Then the next snowfall is expected
During Wednesday, the weather is expected to calm down somewhat, and then escalate again.
– Then we have the next area with snowfall that will come in on Thursday. It also comes from the east and then it looks like it is parts of Götaland and the southern parts of Svealand that will be affected first, says Lovisa Svanberg.
SMHI has not yet issued any warnings for the latter part of the week.
