Chatham-Kent police remind motorists to plan ahead to avoid drinking and driving this holiday season.

The reminder comes after a man was charged with impaired operation following a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in Chatham, police said Monday.

A driver, believed to have been drinking, was arrested, taken for breath tests and found to have blood alcohol 1.5 times the legal limit, police eased.
The accused was released with a Dec. 11 court date, police said.
“With the holiday season upon us, we ask that the public to plan ahead and avoid driving while under the influence of alcohol,” police said. “If caught, you risk your vehicle being impounded and an automatic driver’s license suspended.”
Several trailers broken into
Chatham-Kent police are seeking the public’s help as they probe break-ins at the CM Wilson Conservation Area.
A trailer owner walking in the area Saturday found several trailers had been entered, police said.
